Good pics James.
The Flotilla either don,t know their Cardinal marks or are very experienced.

Mind you there is no point in going the wrong side of the mark cos it don,t save yer any time. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Looking at the water level at said pole.
There would have been about 8 ft to spare.
Plus knowingly or un knowingly, thier line gave them a good offing of The Platters and Pices Point. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Good job it,s Neaps!
Did You stop over in Holyhead, or whizz right round?
Sunday was a bit miserable for The Raft Race but it went ahead.
There were some quite cold bods out there.
Pretty much a success though.

The group did turn the correct side of the Cardinal.
However by the time they had turned they were on top of the Rock!
We had lunch at Llandwyn-

and then headed to Trearddur-

to meet up with some pals. We planned to return via Holyhead but passing the Stacks the bay looked rough and the forecast was for increasing North wind so we turned around and went back up through the very sheltered Straits.

No chance of getting over on Sunday to see the raft race, Conwy Marina resembled Siberia!

Unfortunately not, we returned to Conwy on Saturday.
Hope you have a good week, there will be some great places to visit, try Point Lynas and Porth Wen on the North Coast and Trearddur and Llanddwyn on the South. If you are not familiar with the Island the Cruising Anglesey guide can be invaluable.
Hope the weather gets better too.

They seem to be stupidly close to the mark and you seem quite close to the Platters!

I will be posting my report on the raft race shortly and asking for advice on how to get to your boat when armed police are blocking your way.

The previous shot may have been a little misleading.

This picture was taken at the same time as the one of the boats at the Perch on Swelly Rock, you will note that I have moved off the transit line into safe water abeam of the boat house having cleared the Platters to take the shots-

I have marked our approximate position on this chart with a red dot-

Having now seen the low water mark at the boat house/shore line, do you think they still had 8ft over the Rock?

I must admit having done that trip with a little guidance from Rich, that there really couldnt have been much below that boat - 8ft sounds a lot, as most of the time it seems to be rock showing. I always was also most fearful of the platters - you thought you knew where they were, but were never quite sure (well thats me anyway!)

Ah! Now that I can see you were off the old boat house, you were well away from them nasty Platters. They took off both props and 'adjusted the gearboxes off a 40 footer two years ago.

Well and truly Plattered.

This is a the big picture. The Platters are in front of the white house and you were adjacent to the light patch between the house and the perch.

But, the two mobos were taking a big risk as the Swellies extend well out to the East of the perch.
