Anyone got any recommendations for a good general yacht maintenance book? Or maybe its better to get separate ones for engine, electrics, general etc?

Got this for Christmas - but it's geared towards small boats....

I found Don Casey's book pretty useful. It doesn't tell you everything, is not specific to any one manufacturer, but I reckon he does a good job..

This Old Boat, Second Edition: Completely Revised and Expanded

You can get the earlier edition cheaper 2nd hand if you want.?

on-line?

I'm not that fond of Calder's book as I find its examples are both a bit lazy and/or too American: he uses diagrams which seem to be ones which I suspect have been selected according to whoever would supply them rather than choosing those which are most common in yachts - or at least UK based ones. Many of the diagrams are quite old and dated.

In my opinion, much better, at least for engine, electrical and plumbing are these notes http://www.tb-training.co.uk/Contents.htm not withstanding their disclaimer that they aren't supposed to be a stand alone reference.

I have Don Casey's "Complete Illustrated Sailboat Maintenance Manual", very good, covers all areas more than adequately unless your boat has particularly complex systems...
