I am having to source the UK style mains socket for my new DSt Francis sailing cat and ship them out to South Africa. This is the first UK boat they have built although they always build to CE standards.

Has anyone got any ideas of the best styles/types fora marine environment?

These are the gewiss style, used in alot of boats as you can swop with existing sockets

Hi Gludy, nice to see you are still about!

We recently had a look on a Searanger at the Birmingham show, even SWMBO comented on the quality and style of the light switches and socket outlets, don't know what they were but might be worth a phone call?
The main electrics panel was neon blue! V smart!
All I needed was a few hundred grand to buy the rest if the boat /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Paul, did you consider fitting KNX-EIB bus instead of traditional switches?
It's not yet a very common solution, but I went that route at home, and based on this experience, if I were speccing a new boat I just wouldn't accept anything else.
I'm saying this because the choice of main sockets is driven by the line of wiring devices.
Frinstance, in the Gewiss line, "PlayBus" is the old(ish), traditional line, whilst "Chorus" is the newer, domotic line.
Main sockets are obviously available for both, but they are different.
