Is not on this year due to all that fuss in East London.
However a few boats are still going up to Maidstone Town Centre that weekend if anyone else is interested.
Hope we can get a decent showing of boats.

Did many boats turn up for this? Hope so

It normally takes place last weekend in July,so weekend after next.
Lock keeper at Allington thinks a few may well turn up.
We will probably travel up Saturday and return on ther Sunday.
HW is late afternoon.

Thanks for that, will be going ourselves now thanks to getting the weekend off!! I did hear that quite a few are already there, making the fortnight of it?

We have attended the MRF for around the last 15 years and a bit miffed that the O*****s
have put a stop to this years official event.

You may remember when the sun used to shine in July.

You and me both, such a shame that a great event like this should be side lined because of it. Hoping to catch up with a few old friends that I haven't seen for a while, reside on the river there do should be about I hope.

Apparently theres a fair few there already, staying for a couple of weeks. Hope to catch up with some pals I've not seen for a while, should be there as they live on the river at maidstone.

No Mooring allowed.

The Castle at Rochester has fireworks after the concert this evening, unfortunately the pier opposite the castle we normally park at overnight is being used to site the display.
Will have to find somewhere else to watch.

It is still on!! Just no security!

Just to clarify, boats are turning up for the festival next Saturday (Saturday 28th). The event was cancelled due to not being able to police the event due to the Olympics, but it means it will be even better as it will be how it used to be without the police making rules and telling everybody off all the time... There may be some fights, but generally all of the boaters are considerate to each other, the fair is still on, the boats are arriving, some bands are still doing it, it's only the police, st johns ambulance and official people (tannoys etc) who won't be there and have believed it is cancelled!

Tuesday 22.00.

Have just driven past.
There are around 20 boats there so far on the south bank.
Some are already moored stern to.

About 50 boats here now
Fantastic atmosphere
Boaters being boaters without any of the politics or the polava that goes with the organised river festival....
:)

saw you on your way back earlier as you came past Cuxton Marina, hope you had a good weekend

Not causing you to much wash I hope as we came past.......

Very pleasant and laid back affair this time with about 60 or 70 boats appearing including a few boats from Essex.
The absence of hordes of oiks whizzing around in old speedboats was very welcome and BSS and EA licence enforcement was also probably responsible for the absence of a number of old heaps which normally appear.
