MAIB denounced

I note that the politicised propaganda activities of the outgoing head of the MAIB, Stephen Meyer, has been thoroughly denounced in Yachting World by our BFHG journo Tim Bartlett. ( remember his lengthy thread.... ) And a thoroughly good job he has done of it, too.

I've copied the piece to my MP, with a 'note of complaint' about the politicisation of the Civil Service, and would encourage others to do similar.

Sorry, I am a bit in the dark here - I was of the impression that Stephen Meyer was doing quite a good job as head of the MAIB - or maybe not..... has he been booted out?

No link, but I seem to recall some approbation because Tim Bartlett caught the MAIB publicising statistics that justified the job it was doing when in fact the so-called statistics were based on rugger ball at all.

There's no criticism of the work of the inspectors and the incident reports they generate. However, further up the food chain..... Read back for yourselves, and read the article in the mag.

What do you expect after ten years of government by people who in their formative years were less secretive of their support for a set up where investigative authorities would be aligned to the party rather than the state? That is why even the damn Police are now being politicized.

Thanks tome. Those ratios don't look wildly different from the US accident stats, which leads me to conclude that they include small outboard vessels, canoes and inland waters.
