Have just purchased a 27ft 1953 Classic motor boat, needing lots of TLC. She is mahogany on oak construction and I have her parked in my driveway. Currently stripping paint from hull and discovered areas of rotten and/or damaged planking that needs replaced. The planks are 4 inch x 1 inch. Can anyone advise where good quality mahogany planking can be purchased as I've been going round the bend trying to source a supplier. I live in Larkhall in Scotland, so would prefer a close contact, but then beggars can't be choosers.

You could also try s l hardwoods. they advertise "Nationwide delivery to your boat", however they seem to be a bit short on mahogany at the mo'.

I always use John Moody here in Devon, (01548 831075) a very knowledgeable and helpful chap - he may be able to send some to you or have some useful contact closer to (your) home.

Any chance of a pic of your boat? sounds lovely!

Hi Albineer. Many thanks for the quick response. As a newbie to the site I have to say I'm really impressed with the responses from all concerned. Have taken the details and will check them out. Will help keep what little hair I have, still on my head. Hope to return the favour sometime.
Many thanks.......Mr Kay Sveistrup
