All I've got to say is ... WE DID IT /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
First time crossing and great sense of achievement. Woke at 6am and vis was 100m. Watched, waited and looked at forecast. As soon as Channel Light Vessel vis improved we left and after the first 5 miles it was clear all the way.
Did it in 3 hours dead and only saw 4 big ships across the TSS. Little Russel is actually quite big and presented no real navigation problems. Used my own waypoints and route, plotted on paper charts as backup.
Victoria Marina is actually quite small but it's lovely and sunny here. Ambience nearly spoiled by DepSol posing as Customs official /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks to all on the forums for info/advice and general confidence boost /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congrats, well done, got further than we did, we were all set for Malahide from the Isle of Man this morning but the weather up this end is pants. Thought of toughing it out and push on but someone somewhere I remember said boating was fun and it did'nt seem like it out there in the wild's of the Irish Sea. So here we are again in the marina all looking very mifted
Anyway have fun and post us some piccys when you get back.
A few years ago I was in the marina and there was some drunken bloke giving the marina staff a hard time because his boat had dried out by 6 inches. He was swearing and shouting and generally being obnoxious.
About an hour later customs were on his boat and they stripped it out and left his luggage, bedding cushions, contents of the cupboards etc scattered up the pontoon during their search.
I had to laugh
Should be in the channel islands around the end of July
