magellen nav 6000 - do you have one

The handheld black and white chartplotter.

Does yours "humm" (not a smell) an annoying loud noise when you turn the light on?

Are there very small black smudges on the LCD at the edges of screen?

Laslty, does yours pick up a signal with difficulty, I have even bought an external aerial and still no joy (get one satellite and thats all after about 20 mins of turn on)

Actually, lastly, anyone know where (if possible) you can get a 12V supply lead for this old piece of kit?

My husband bought one second hand and we don't know if this is normal or just a sign of old age, I'm talking about the gps of course.

I have a 5000. Screen is fine and no humming.

I've been looking for a PC connection NMEA cable for mine.. have given up looking now.. obsolete, and nothing else seems to fit.

[/ QUOTE ]There's a power/data cable listed here - it says it's for Nav5000, but it's the same part number for the Nav6000.

I bought that cable, if it turns out my unit is duff I could pass the lead over to you if you like.

Mine does humm, so maybe a fault.

How long does it take for yours to pick up enough sats for a fix, please?
