Anyone know why John Goode has left Sailing Today? I know he has a good sailing school so maybe he's concentrating on that.

err.... I thought that the Seagull had gone round the UK at least twice with his bird's eye view of harbours. Maybe nothing new to report ?

I'm sure there's a bit more to it than that. Perhaps the reasons will come out sooner or later. Odd that there was no mention or "thank you" in the magazine.

I thought I'd read an editorial 'tribute' in the latest ST, thanking him for the sterling job he's done since the start. If I'm mistaken and there was no such article, then for the record I'd like to say that he did a sterling job.

He did do a sterling job and there was a good tribute in the latest issue, written by the production editor Rodger Witt.
Capt John is a very fine fellow and says what he thinks. I am told on very good authority that this was unpalatable for the publisher!

Isn't that the whole team, IPc are vanilla wrt ST, I still get PBO, I live in hope that they might get their act together and remember what they are supposed to represent, right now they are nothing better than a telephone directory.

I feel ST is written for the sailors rather than some agenda. It is a shame that IPc feel unable to support their readership when most of them are active boating types, it must be very frustrating for them not to be able to rant about the way we are treated etc.

ST gear tests are brilliant, real world testing, they tell it like it is, rather than just copy + paste from the brochure. I don't know if it was the wing-sail or being under an American corp that ruined this very stable where I now write, but I am afraid ST is our magazine now, IPc are just coffee table decoration.

I wish it was not so, I have great respect for some of the writers, I wonder how many applications from IPc will land on the ST reception desk on Monday morning.

His rants on minimal sailing used to get up my nose on riding light, but at the same time I fully respected his right to argue his point, which he did well, I just don't agree with him.

Life would be awfully dull if we all thought the same anyhoo.
