Made it to the Maltings at Snape!

Up the Alde from Cob Island to the Iken Cliffs this morning - left 4hours before HW on a neaps HW of around 2.5m and made Iken with only one brief East Coast, ahem, rest break (on the mud) at HW -2.5. Draft 1.1.

The withies are very good this year - says a 1st timer. Discretion being the better part of valour, we then rowed the last 1.5nm to the Maltings for an explore & a very nice brunch at the café. The tour boat skipper advised that a shoal draft yacht should be able to make the Maltings quay - if they really want to!

We stayed floating (just) through LW.

What a truly magical spot! Seals, curlews and lots of other birds.

I gave up at Iken Cliffs when the route up to Snape looked like a trip across a flooded pasture.
