Welcome back to MacGregorWatch.

The assortment of new contributions today, varies in content, from unemotive expressions of contentment in ownership, to other, less easily-categorised entries. A rabbit-Warren of views, with the question of Buffeting having arisen. Why, is not clear.

Conclusions drawn from tragic accidents involving a MacGregor 26, led informed observers to remark that the Mac could be sailed and motored entirely safely, provided its owners/users always show a reasonable degree of intelligence. D'oh!

Okay, let's keep the figure in the 'Replies' column for this thread, at less than 1...

Dammit, gentlemen, opinions on the MacGregor 26 have no place on this thread!

This one is exclusively for mindlessly remarking on others' comments, elsewhere.

I may begin another thread next, reviewing the reviews. :D

i would prefer to swallow the anchor ( what ever type) than own a macgreggor :)

Has anybody actually ever swallowed an anchor?

SWMBO once swallowed the Dan-forth. At least, that's what she called it, but I think she was trying to pronounce 'force'. :)

If a macGregor was a foot longer ie 27 foot I would be doing the 2013 OSTAR in one, no doubt about it. The 2013 OSTAR have reduced their minimum size to 27 ft (i think). Perfect boat to bash against the wind in the northern Atlantic in my opinion.

Sorry but believe it or not I have never read a MacGregor thread.
I don't like reading something when you know the ending, a bit like the film Titanic which I have also never seen.

How fast can it go towing the fuel barge it would need, to feed a 75hp outboard?

Welcome back to MacGregorWatch.

This is an excellent idea. Summarising long threads for which I have no intention of trawling through all the posts, but would just like to receive a daily update.

Can you review the following and produce a daily synopsis?

Red diesel
Long keels
Anchors
...

You get the picture.

Much appreciated.:)

No,we go sailing, in real sailing boats :p

And so do I.

Even when we had a MacGregor we had a boat with sails that we used to go sailing in that apparently is not a real sailing boat?

As a relatively new member of the Forum I find all this sniping about MacGregors and their owners along with pointless sub threads about what is happening on the main thread not very "encouraging".

Perhaps the forum could provide a list of the boats that members should own that will be classed as "real" sailing boats so they know whether or not they will be accepted into the community

You have "lucked-in" to a long running opinion-based series of threads.

I re-started flappy stuff sailing with a proper snail of a boat which I enjoyed and know others on here have, or have had.
I wouldn't want another, although it had some very pleasant aspects.

I don't worry about people criticising boats. Everyone has their own favourites and opinions.
It's like cars. Don't listen to other people's opinions. You get what suits you. Sometimes you make a bad choice and you need to accept that. I'll never buy another Ford Corsair.
