M4 Penny Washers in Stainless Steel

I'm pretty sure I bought some during the summer when fitting some additional deck tidies etc. However I became very frustrated because, one of the best known chandlers in the country, based in Lymington, had 2 packs of 2 on their stand.

So then I decided to use M5 bolts instead, and they didn't ahve enough of the right length! I ended up using M5 washers on M4 bolts and nuts, IIRC, with another small washer in between.

All Holt bits, BTW.

They don't appear to be Stainless - especially at that price!

Yes they are. If you're used to buying in the swindlery, the price may surprise. It did me, when I needed a load of new set-screws for windows.

Thanks for the link to A2 A4 Fixings.

It looks very useful and the search function works brilliantly!

304 Stainless would be fine as it is an interior application .... but I have seen these and M4 / M5 is what we would all call M5 ....... Still not convinced they exist, although the Force 4 lead is interesting.

2p pieces! ...a bit small. I have a good supply of 1d pieces which certainly are not made of steel. You do realise I hope that mutilating a coin of the realm is a very serious offence /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Older ones are not but more recent one have a steel core. Since around 2000. test some with a magnet and you will see

1d i.e. Old Penny were always copper, your thinking of 1 new pence pieces.

I've got a bag of old pennies, but wouldn't they be too soft for using as penny washers?

Re: One Old Penny Pieces

You were obviously up too late Vic /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And no, I'm not wasting my pre-1953 shillings /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif (not allowed to use ! marks for a week).

(for some reason, not getting 'favourite topic' emails at the moment, or would have replied sooner).

Re: One Old Penny Pieces

We have loads around our boat, every opening with a cover has four of them. Including cabind bunk lids, galley worktop lids, and all the cupboard doors.
