Went to Lynmouth over the weekend to take some friends on the cliff railway.
Looking at the tiny harbour, if they put a curtain gate on the entrance similar to Watchet, what a great spot it would make for visiting boats!
With water there all the time all the permanent berths could be accommodated on finger pontoons on one side with visitors berths on the other.
Could probably recoup the cost of the gate in few years from visitor and permanent berth fees.

Anchored off but not spent the night in there. is the quay wall suitable to lean a fin keeler on?

There is a hell of a swell gets in there in the right conditions. Given the size of the harbour and the location, I wouldn't invest in such a venture. Amazing place though.

Lovely, but treacherous place. Not enough room to turn most boats, struggled to get 24' in there and turn around.

Nice place though, shame to spoil it with gentrifications

went by boat a long time ago and we anchored off and went ashore in the gemini, not much fun if i remember right,we got a soaking on the way back out, didnt mind as we had a few beers. nice place to visit by road. dont know if a fin keeler would be ok, the harbour looks quite rocky.

I have to agree, my boat likes water.
A drying harbour ain't really a harbour, more of a beach really /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

went in there once and rafted up to a moored boat. no problems but I wouldnt like to be there in anything other than really settled weather. the guy whose boat I rafted to pointed out that all the resident boats had had rudders shortened because of the pounding they suffer when the scend comes in.
