Just be aware that if you are visiting Lymington Town Quay the have reduced the number of visitors moorings on the outer piles/buoys significantly. Two of the previous rows of visitors moorings have now been given over to permanent moorings a shame as always pretty well guaranteed to find a space there even in the busy summer period.

any sign of them changing the pontoon to give extra fingers? there was a plan to totally change the area but as far as I know not actually done yet?

Apparently they are starting in December and plan to finish by next Easter. Bookable finger berths and reduced turn up an go as at present. I guess more like Yarmouth and no doubt higher prices to boot. A shame as I love the current charm of the place.

agree, usually able to get a place even if Yarmouth is full, especially if you have a dinghy and don't mind the buoys.

Confirmed higher prices. That and a 250 ml glass of Merlot costing £7.50 in the Kings Head and £9.50 in the Mayflower I can see that Wetherspoons may be getting more visits.

Long time since I bought a glass of wine in a pub, but is that really right? A large glass of wine is £9.50?

That size wine is a third of a bottle.

£30.00 a bottle not out of the way these days in a resturant, but a bit pricy for a pub.

Tuesday night at the Gladiator club in Oxford where the Eastside Rhythm Kings were strutting their stuff, a whisky and coke and a mini bottle of acceptable Merlot was £6.40.

The band was good too.

A medium / large glass of Merlot is £7.00 + around Dunsfold; I'm not so bothered about that as the mooring changes, I've always gone to the town quay or moorings opposite - what now ?

Like others I rather like Lymington and was quite often on the bouys, a 15 metre paddle from the quay. These types of venues are disappearing fast in the name of progress.

I wouldn't call it progress !

If it becomes a rip-off like Yarmouth I and others will vote with our keels.

Just like idiotic car park charges in some places, it drives the punters with money in their wallets away - I wonder what the local shop-owners feel ?

But it won't drive away those who have money to spend in the local shops and hostelries, it may well of course have an impact on those who are looking for cheaper options, but they also don't tend to chuck their cash at Musto/Quba/Jules/that art shop at the bottom of the hill and balk at the prices in the pubs and restaurants, thus eat on board.

My local town council has killed our high street. All we have left is coffee shops.

I can tell you, the local business owners are livid. Despite being a market town that appears in the Domesday book, we are nothing but a dormitory town now with a rail connection to London.

Change is part of life, but this borders on vandalism.
