Lyme regis and West Bay

Anyone know if the pontoons in the outer harbour at West Bay and just outside Lyme are still there after the winter and what sort of depths, and does the Lyme one link to the shore? Just day dreaming about places to go!

Give the harbour master at west bay a call. The outer harbour was being dredged a couple of months back and the pontoons should have gone back in by now. I wouldn't rely on an almanac

Just as a matter of interest, is the pontoon still the plastic one at water level? Haven't been there for a while.

Another query. From memory the pontoon is protected frin a westerly wind but would it be okay in either a northerly or easterly?

Shows pontoons in place in Force 6 from SW

All in place and a big welcome from the hbr. staff who will also help you dry out if you would like, alongside the south wall.
New pontoons ok in most winds except strong Easterlies. There are buoys to cling to as well.
The very best place to stop on the way anywhere. follow the coast for interest and often you can do it on one tack. I do not understand why anyone flogs all day/night across the Bay.
