I
havent been into Lydney only had a look with binoculars going past . Is there a quay wall you can moor to outside the lock to get ashore for a leg stretch over the high water?
Yes you could lean against Lydney yacht club leaning posts, advise them of your visit first. details on their website. If you arrive early and the tide will be running, approach close to the projecting wall then turn in sharpish and you are in almost slack water, bit daunting the first time ,but adds to the sailing highs! Alternatively there is Berkley Pill, opposite Lydney, just past the Power station and before Sharpness dock, hard to spot but a good bolt hole.
Thanks for that. Not visited Berkley Pill either.what is there? Is there any where to get ashore etc.
Visited Oldbury Pill where the sailing club is We were late for Sharpness spotted a sailing dinghy coming out so made a diversion .Then had an enjoyable weekend visiting the club and a pub a short walk away.
Just water and grass banks, we just nosed into the bank dropped the hook and had refreshments, should have taken photos really. but you could get off easily to take a stroll. I would add that it meanders back someway, while we were there a dinghy from Lydney came in and dissapeared round the bends for how far I cannot tell you.
