It seems the regulator ( she might have meant rectifier ) had gone duff & i need to source another. any pointers would be gratefully accepted, the local Co who have tested it actually done the original windings for LVM
i will post a photo later when i get it back

Now part of Xylem group along with Jabsco and other well known names

Its an obsolete model but with luck parts will be available from Jabscoshop

Manual for aerogen 4 on Bluemoment ...... maybe useful ???

What are the chances that the rectifier in the new A4 would work ( item 38 & part A @ £81.37 + vat) it does look like a new one would be viable @ these spares prices :disgust:

A good chance but I have failed to find out anything about the Aerogen 3 ( I assume thats what you have when you said Windgen.)

Need to be sure its not a much higher output... I assume it isn't but its purely an assumption .. and that the A4 rectifier can handle the output.

A4 is a 3 phase alternator so the rectifier is presumably a 6 diode bridge. I assume A3 is the same, but again purely an assumption

A3 is also 3 phase with a lesser out put.
i will try to find out who manufactures the A4 for Jabsco or get a message through them

The rectification on my old Rutland 913 was a pair of rather bog standard metal cased bridge rectifiers if I remember correctly. Total cost of about a fiver, or a tenner in Maplins. If you want to keep it to the single part, try RS Compoments part number 395-3244. Rated 35A and 600v.

Cheers

Should do the job

equally this one rated at 400V http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/bridge-rectifiers/3953238/

Also a good selection available from Rapid Electronics. Stuff from Rapid is OK to the best of my knowledge and lower priced than RS.

I wonder why the rectifier for the A4 wont do.
Too much trouble i guess
Thanks all it looks like you have saved me the cost of a Aerogen 4 :D

Now who do we know that works for RS :encouragement:

Well a big thanks to all for your invaluable assistance
all now reassembled with s/s bearings where exposed & the RS rectifier + a very nice paint job.
just bench tested & bless my soul it works, driven by the battery drill. had a bit of a fright (as the multi meter was on the 20v setting) then went from 19.?v to 1. then the penny dropped, I changed the range setting & she ran up to 30v.
The s/s bearings were expensive (from Bearing Boys)
£49 for bearings
£20 Rectifier
£51 for the auto electricians who really were less than helpful( couldnt find a rectifier ). I will be writing to the MD of Heasells in Royston Herts asking for a refund.
Roll on Friday to poke it up the pole
Thanks again i am well pleased & learnt a thing or two as well

Up date
i have now fitted a nasa bm 2 & an adverc ( both from forumites @ mates rates).
now with the batteries well up & all kit turned off, + some wind i am seeing up to 1.5 amp charge on the monitor. we are well sheltered here in the marina so no constant winds but the aerogen 3 is doing what it is supposed to. thanks all who assisted
