50kts+ yesterday and last night - so I went sailing today with hardly a breath of wind - ended up motoring home agin the tide - blue sky, sun, lots of soup. There was only a couple of coasters, a Fishery Protection grey funnel swing her compass, me and an amazing number of seals - heads popping up everywhere.

Coastguard forecast was full of Force 8s increasing to Force 9s for the rest of the weekend so it should be fine!

Sat in Mayflower marina eating a pastie about 1200 ish wishing I had time to get out - lovely and sunny with occ gusts to 25 kts.......... damn that diy!

As a new boat owner with limited experience today saw our first outing moving our new purchase from Hamble to Haslar, not a mamoth journey but forecast for today gave me cause for concern but in the end the gods looked kindly and gave us a pleasant first outing with just about 8kts in the Solent. Just off to the pub to celebrate. I am sure today was the Lull.

Same on the Orwell - did cast off just past eleven - 8-9kts SW - upriver to Pin Mil, then down to Landguard. By 13H30 no more than 5 kts of wind. Motored back against the last of the ebb. Alongside by 14H15.

They don't make F9s like they used to.
