Hello all!
A Question for the technical experts out there.
I posted in the item wanted section of the forum for a Lowrance nmea2000 system/starter kit to join two hds units. Thanks to a forum member (Am I allowed to name names?) was directed a garmin 2000nmea system on a well known auction site. My question is are the two systems compatable? will my hds fit the garmin system? will I need any adapters etc.
Should this be in the wrong section I would be grateful if it could be moved to the appropriate one.
Thank you in advance.

Lowrance used 2 types of n2k plug, whilst n2k is standardised between manufacturers the only thing that is not specified in the standard is the plugs, a pitty really. You should be able to get Lowrance to device net adaptors if you need them.

The latest (well for the past 7 years actually) Lowrance stuff is simply device net configuration on the cabling and plugs so Garmin stuff which is also device net configuration will also fit. as will Maretron cables and the stuff from Actisense and OSUKL who also do a good range of adapters. Mind you, if all you want to do is connect a pair of HDS the most economical way is to use the Ethernet cable which will also give more data exchange between the two units than N2K.
