Afternoon Guys and Gals

I'm looking to get a lowrance Elite 9 (not the ti, unless it's really worth the price difference). I want to link the lowrance link-8 vhf ais radio to plotter (to show AIS targets on the plotter, but also for DSC positions to show on the plotter). I understand I need a NMEA 2000 starter kit.

Will this all work the way I want to?

Secondly I want to use the structure scan etc, but do not want a transom mount, I want through hull. What transducer are required and further equipment to make it all work.

I've read and read and think I'm going round in circles.

Cheers and out

I have just fitted a simrad go7 and rs35 vhf which is basically the same kit with a different name.

You will need a N2k starter kit and one extra t piece to link it. It will all work as you want.

You can use a P79 transducer for in hull shoot through but that won't give you structure scan.

Best thing is to speak to Dean at Bottomline. He is a Navico dealer and really knows his stuff.

My experience of Lowrance was such I would never touch their stuff again. The product didn't do what it said on the box and this was my fault according to the technical 'expert' at Lowrance. I returned it (an HDS7M plotter) to Force 4 who offered a full refit and an apology, which I then spend with them on Garmin kit. Never had any issues with the Garmin kit.

If using the elite-9 it is there a thru hull transducer that'll suit downscan? I've seen some bronze HDi transducers but not sure they'll do the job! Help!

Dean won't mind. He is local to me and has been a great help with my boat. One of those guys who is proper clued up and just has all the info in his head.
