Well, while investigating my ignition switch problem I had to access the back of the helm and I’ve noticed that this black cable isn’t connected to it’s suspiciously close ‘mate’. My first thoughts were that it had simply popped off but before I plugged it back in I checked the radio and it works perfectly without it. I have checked the installation guide and it suggests that it ought to be connected. My thoughts are to leave it alone as it works and if it stops then remember the fact this is off.

Any thoughts from you guys?

It looks to me like it's the battery negative connection. The radio will probably be working by getting a negative connection from NMEA or antenna. Neither is good for the radio and having a good negative direct to battery needs doing. Do check out where it goes before plugging in though.
