I've not tried connecting to a DSC radio however the gps runs laptop software ok, and was happy enough running data out to a clipper repeater. I believe you may have a bit of a problem if you have an XM radio as the voltage of the nmea data is quite low coming out of the gps and the xm needed a good strong nmea signal to pick up the sentences. Best thing is to just try it, providing you can get a hold of the data cable. Best get one with the 12v input as well, so you can run the GPS off the ship power. Those AA's dont last more than a couple of hours in my Lowrance Globalnav 200.
