I have just returned from a near disaster in the harbour at Lowestoft. On Saturday returned to port in a bit of a wind and cross tide. I got in OK although some adrenalin flowed. After setting lines up and getting fenders out we snagged a tarpaulin in the prop and drifted about a bit till we got alongside an old tug. Uncomfortable.
Offers of help came from Tim Wood and Richard on Mystery II of Meon, another Robert Clark but a foot or two shorter than ours. David the club manager also came with a RIB to get us alongside and we celebrated whilst the wind got sharper and stronger.
What lovely folk you meet when you are in need?
Also the team from Learn Scuba came and unfettled the tarp so the boat is now ready for the off once again.
Really nice folk on the ground at Lowestoft. Good Dover Sole in the club too. Give it a try... you know it makes sense.
