Lowestoft Marinas

We stopped overnight at http://www.lowestofthavenmarina.co.uk/facilities.asp in the old Hamilton dock. Nice enough, no bridge no rolyness (is that a new word ? :)) Best stick to the outer pontoons to avoid the Seagull poo though. Toilets and showers were pristine.

Walk out of the gate, up the road past the garage to the roundabout, turn right, past the police station, steer to starboard into the High Street, Chinese all you can eat buffet to starboard. Decent meal for not a lot of money. http://www.qype.co.uk/place/450152-China-Diner-Lowestoft

Does anybody know for certain whether LHM Hamilton Dock has a lower length restriction - the blurb seems to suggest 10m upwards which would preclude our using it?

Oscar Wilde spoke of people who "know the price of everything and the value of nothing"....you could go to Lowestoft Haven Marina.... through the bridge and then through a post industrial wasteland...wrecks ,rotting hulks, derelict buildings...ugh. The marina is OK when you get there and the restuarant can be a bit better than you would expect.
The Hamilton is pretty bleak and used mainly by windfarm and fishing boats and seems miles from anywhere...apart from the rougher bits of Lowestoft.
Or you could go to the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk YC...closest to the sea...friendly club, excellent food in an elegant Edwardian clubhouse.
Back to Oscar for a second and values....the Dutch ....who one has to say are regarded by their neighbours as even more parsimonious than a tight fisted Scot invariably stay at the RNSYC because they appreciate its value and qualities....but you have had a fair selection of views so you decide..best wishes.
