Low voltage connector for samsung monitor, where can i get one?

Ah.

Samsung are special.

Almost every other DC barrel connector has a hole in the center, Samsung use a large out diameter & a small diameter pin inside.

If you have the existing plug in the photo, trot into (spit) Maplins and compare. Or take an impression of either socket or plug with bluetack & take that in.

cheers,

Ah if it has a pin in the middle as Starfire suggests then I can't help. If it has a female hole in the middle then it should be no trouble except that there are 2 different sized holes for pins fat or thin. The 4.3 mm sounds like the fat one. Some battery saver (transformers) or car adapters come with a range of connectors possibly including what you want.

This style is common to a lot of electonics but I can't see where 4.3mm comes in so probably no good to you at all. olewill

Really need a better picture of the fitting.

Success, maplins had one. Had to buy a set but never mind. Monitor raws just under an amp. 1.5A for the computer, total with GPS & AIS running into Opencpn & linux - 2.5A. So between that and the working again refleks heater it will be a few days before even noticing if the marina power goes off

Next question, should I put a voltage regulator in there.. probably should s'pose.

Yes, but it would have to be a low drop one, or look for a suitable (5A ?) 12V -12V DC-DC Converter, that should shield things from the voltage spikes & various ups n downs in voltage/

Probably should, got one of these in at the moment but getting a bit hot

Back to ebay....

What you need is a "DC DC Buck Boost regulator"

This one might be too small but is the kind of thing you need. It will give 12v out with a wide range of battery voltage from 11v flat to 15v on charge. The kind of thing you might also buy as a Computer power supply for car. good luck olewill

that's the link which fell off the last post :) Got a handful of those already, but 1A constant seems a bit close the the edge, running hot.

But the computer power supply for car... well they ain't cheap but since there's one supplying the computer already there might be a spare 12v in there somewhere I could run up to the monitor... Ta V much, that might be a tidy way to run it.
