Low Tide in the Ryde Channel

We stayed over at Ryde Harbour last night and despite forecasts suggesting a very wet morning, they were wrong.

We were gently woken by a short lived shower in the early hours and took a lovely stroll out on the Ryde sandbanks.

And yes, they go out a long way.

When they advise access is 2.5 hours either side of high tide, they mean it !
 
I remember walking past the marina many years ago to see a family on a 40ft motorboat sat on the mud trying to enjoy dinner at a 40 degree lean. It dries fast that's for sure!!

I always enjoy seeing the ones earnestly scrubbing something as if it's intentional ;)
 
But it is also noticeably shallower to the east of the "channel", so between that and the hovercraft must be the definition of it.
