Low Rainfall......

Yes, know I am probably going to bitterly regret this post but...
Will the lack of rainfall cause problems for navigation in the very near future.
Rationing of lock filling etc .


Since starting this post the sky outside has gone very dark !

Still plenty of flow over the weirs on our trip a few days ago (Chatham > Caversham).

Yes, I went down the beach this morning and the water was really low...

I guess the depth of water between locks and the depth over the downstream cill of a tidal lock would become an issue affecting navigation before the volume used by lock operation becomes significant.
Depths where I am on the River Trent do not seem to be a major issue although the upper parts of the tidal section needs more cautious consideration of depth created by tide.
