Hello all, we had a bad experience at the weekend, when a skin fitting which I had over-tightened snapped, leaving a 50mm hole under water. I had a wooden bung to hand, but it seeped all night until I was able to replace the fitting next day. Requiring manual pumping out, every four hours, through the night. During this I realised that the hose which picks up from the manual pump is about 22mm bore, and struggled to pick up, unless someone held a hand on it to lessen the amount of air being sucked in.
I am told that there are strainers available, which pick up from low level.
I cant find where to get one, and would like to resolve the issue before another bad session.

I've simply trimmed the end of the hose at an appropriate angle to make it fit the shape of the bilge - it's a slanted cut, perhaps 6" long - and then I've used an old stainless wall tie to force the cut end of the hose against the bottom of the bilge and hold it in place. Obviously it can't fit too well or it can't actually suck at full bore, but it certainly helps get the bilge dry.

Thank you guys. Found them!
Why couldn't I figure out that it's called a Strum Box Strainer?
It's such an obvious, and descriptive name.
Seriously. Thanks again though
