Has anyone ventured under Windsor/Eaton bridge,Cookham lock cut and Boulters in a Broom 35cl after dropping the top mast? Its supposed to fit under but it sure looks tight to me.

What's your air draft with it down ?

Specs for the boat say 10'2" with it folded ...

Should go under all of those . Plenty of big boats like that in Harleyford.

Many thanks, At 10"2 it should go all the way up but when I speak to other owners nobody has dared do it. Any idea how reliable the bridge heights are during the season because when you see the lookers on the bridges the last thing that you want is to lose your bits and pieces.

The bridge heights that are given in the user guide are all quoted from 'Headwater' which is an imaginary line in the river , most locks run at X inches above Headwater.

Give the preceding lock to the bridge you are interested in a ring and ask what their headwater is. Minus this from the height given and you have the air draft of the bridge.

EG. Teddington Lock Cut bridge is 18'6" , but we run at 6 above , so it's 18 foot really

I usually ask the Romney keeper how they are running, Windsor Bridge is a just might/just might not decision. Cookham is no chnace, arch down.

Might point out if you go tidal you have the same decision to make at Hammersmith.

Broom 38 CL

We keep our Broom Ocean 38 at Sonning.
Height to top of screen is 3.2 metres.
No trouble with any of the bridges with radar arch down.
Last winter we got Broom to do a few jobs on the boat one of which was to hinge the s/s arch that fits on top of the GRP radar arch, over the radar dome. Fantastic. From our base above Sonning lock, we can now travel (normal summer levels) all the way to Clifton Hampden without lowering the grp radar arch. Theoretically all the way to Abingdon, but not tested that yet.

Air Draught

My minimum air draught with everything down is 12 feet, and I've never had any problems, in normal conditions, right up to Oxford.

You shouldn't have any problem with a 35CL much bigger stuff gets up as far as Abingdon no problem, two Sealine F43's there this week, a Broom 450OS is reguarly at Shillingford.
