We went for a lovely walk after tea tonight along the sea wall from Essex Marina to see the Wallasea wetlands project, now in its second year. It is still evident that it is man made, and nature has begun the process of rounding off the square marks made by the diggers. The birds and mammal life do not seem to notice. It is very peaceful out there, as there is no road and no houses.
As we clambered up the bank at the Marina to join the footpath, one of our erstwhile chums leered out the window with an imprecation to have a pint before continuing. That done, we wandered along until 30 minutes before sunset, and then turned around, and came back down the farm track to the car.

Lovely walk, and it is really pleasing. So quiet too, except for the birds and the rustling of the crops in the fields.

Also lovely to see the juniors out on the river from Burnham Sailing Club. What a perfect evening for them. About 10-12 knots beam on to the river, warm breeze.

Full Circle is on her new mooring, just waiting for tomorrow morning to go and check her out for the seasons jollities. Hurrah!

Thanks FC - a good idea for the weekend with visiting rellies and a ferry ride to Burnham for tea perhaps.

A Burhamite (Inn Spirit) was waiting to get into Bradwell this afternoon having got there quicker than anticipated. I had to wait 45 mins and came in with 0 on the sounder, drawing 1.7. He drew 2.1 and had never been there before and was still waiting an hour after me. Very neaps.

Alan, he prob had 3 Fingerr Richard with him, I am sure he has been there many times, but then again....
If you are going with aged rellies, it is possible during the day to take a car on the Private Farm Road past the entrance to Essex Marina, and it is signposted 'The Wetlands' to a parking area clearly laid out. There is a good view from there, as you get up on the bank, you will see you are virtually opposite Rice & Cole. The camera tower is about another kilometre walking east along the path. Its very dry and the mud on the path is cracked and uneven, but not dangerous.

During Burnham Week back in the 70's, I used to camp in the dinghy park area behind in the RCYC. Seems it has been replaced by a dark block of flats. But otherwise, it looks the same and very beautiful. When eventually I come back to the UK, it will be the east coast again for me. Thanks for posting those lovely pictures

Not aged but includes grand-daughter. Thanks for directons.

Inn Spirit was crewed by man and lady who asked if there was a dog-leg in the creek and were pleased to get directions down to the green buoy. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
