Lovely Afternoon down Port Hamble but expensive to make it a habit

Gary, Im about all day Sat, but not the evening, could show you the sights of the upper Hamble ?

Howard, They offer a deal, where you can have all three meats, just up your street, surprised it isn't your local......

Agreed the facilities at Foulkes are no where near the same as a big marina but neither are their prices, Accessible at all states of the tide, my boat draws 1.2 mtrs approx but has a 4.5 mtr air draft so i have to pick my times right to get under Bursledon bridge but there are many smaller boats up here that have no issuses with the bridge, As already mentioned there are other yards right up there too that are very reasonably priced.

If you are around on Sat it is worth coming up river as it is the annual Bursledon regatta which is centred around the famous Jolly sailor pub and will be a good spectacle to watch, with a glass of the Jolly sailors finest ale of course, drop me a PM if you are up that way as I will be out on the water in my rib and am more than happy to give you a guided tour of the upper reaches,or just have a beer!

Regards
Simon

sorry for not replying sooner... will read up on everyone's kind offers to show me around later today.. been a bit full on with work the last few days, my supplier royally cocked up a major change last night so have been a little detained getting my ass kicked by the customer last night and this morning:rolleyes:

Why not have a look at Shamrock Quay (MDL) on the Itchen river just past Ocean Village, you will find their prices much better, but not such nice surroundings compared to Hamble. It is a good marina with good facilities etc.

Like OAF I keep my boat at Foulkes and can't recommend it highly enough. Really friendly and helpful community down there. I don't have mine on a walk ashore pontoon which is half the price, just keep a dinghy there afloat for the short hop over which is really no effort.

Food

Hi probably a bit late for this trip but next time you are near Swanwick try Valsheedas in Swanwick Marina ,cant think of too many nicer spots to have agood value restaurant.

thanks again everyone for the kind offers to show us around the various marinas... myself and #2 son's on the boat now (on the hard).. heading for the beaches tomorrow:cool:and will probably stay in Lymington for the night heading back to Southampton on Saturday if the weather turns for the worse.. if it holds out we may hit the beaches again as it'd be a shame not to make the best of it and head back to base late Saturday to have a crack at this sky gazing malarky from Toothill Observatory

Roy will give you a bell buddy regarding Sunday lunch, Deb can't make it :( as she's playing netball that day back in MK and Caley should be getting taken back there for Rugby practice same day but I reckon he can skip a session if you guys are still up for it... will have Pop's with us.

If those that have offered help could send me your mobile details in a pm I'd be very grateful as I'll be taking the opportunity to have a good look around them all before deciding which one to go for April next year

many thanks

signing off now, boat to prepare, spag bol to rustle up for the lad and a Thatchers is calling to me from the Spinnaker Bar:D love it when a plan comes together (leave and good weather coinciding:cool:)
