Just reminding you all that the first of the 2009 BCYA sponsored winter talks will be on the 15th January at Thornbury Sailing Club.

The talk starts at 8pm. It is entitled THE LOST PORTS OF THE SEVERN & BRISTOL CHANNEL and is given by Roy Gallop

From what I understand, this is an excellent talk and certainly worth making the effort to attend.

Please invite your sailing friends. The BCYA will be providing a complimentary buffet for everyone.

Regards B.C.Y.A. Bristol Channel Yachting Assocation.

Can do if you like....the beach on E. Flatholm is quite good. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Power boating is not permitted as the club objective is to encourage sailing

So where do they complain about "nasty mobos", hmmm? They want like-minded people who go sailing, not motoring - nothing wrong in that /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I did meet one of the members over in Cardiff, chating away nicely until he saw my boat!

On the contary, one of the others (with a bigger posher sail boat) was fine!

I didn't think we had the them and us attitude around the BC?

So would I be welcome at this meeting?

I am quite nice really, and once even towed a sailing boat who was in dificulty ....... he wasn't from Thornbury though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

May I also say that I attended a talk by Bristol Port and VTS at Portishead Cruising Club in Pill and was made most welcome.

I thought, great another place to visit, but they don't allow Mobo's, shame.

So far, I have not seen any Sailing boat show any animosity to me or other Mobo's. Its really good to see.

Seems like the Solent is a different story.
