loss of speed

can anyone help me please, last week I went out for a planning session and couldn't get over the hump! Expected revs are 4500, rev counter didn't even get above 3000 and it felt like we were going up hill, engine didn't sound particularly stressed but the gear lever was max'd out, could move it any further. I'm lifting her out next week for the hull to be cleaned, would this do it or is it more serious?

GOOD!

I had to pick up two young kids fishing from a swamped dinghy yesterday, when two fast large motor boats 'Fairline 40s? (looked like they were racing each other) went racing through a narrow cut. They did not even notice the havoc they could or did cause.
They were NOT young teenagers 'driving' either. I use the word 'driver' as they and others like them can be becalled 'seaman'

I dont need a big power bost to show off - I have a penis!

definately...
my dad used to have a 30 ft fletcher cappable of 42 knots with twin 270's
We couldnt get it on the plane as the weed was so thick
But after a scrubb it flew up on only quarter throttle.

firstly he would probably make more wash on the resistance hump...........
secondly we (the responsible ones) on this forum would agree woith your sentiment, if not necessarily your words
thirdly I was nearly knocked sideways into a Buoy in Poole harbour by an overtaking PB(32ft), doing it's 10 knots, and passing within 8ft. It did the sam eto the yacht in front of me causing a bottle of wine to be toppled in the saloon.

Ignoring the fact that I shouldn't pass within 15ft of a buoy, and that the yacht shouldn't have an 'unsecured' bottle out....

the boat, and a follower trailing 50 yards behind, were both flying Blue Ensigns and proudly announced themselves to be members of the RNSA

anyone know what this stands for?

Public apology

It wasn't me referred to earlier, but we did nearly swamp someone coming out of Poole on Saturday. A small powerboat just off my port bow throttled up and stared to peel off to port as we came out, so I did the same and went right. He must have hit some big waves (it was a bit lumpy), and thought better of it, cos when I looked round, he had dropped right back and was now off my port quarter struggling in the chop, and got hit by a mountain of water from my wake as I was just going over the hump. Too late for either of us to do anything about it, so if it was you, I'm sorry...

Re: Public apology

very different Graham - and always a dilema in the entrance especially when a good tide is running. I nearly always have to add to the 'waves' by going up to 10 knots in order to maintain reasonable directional control through the sloppy chop.
I'll look out for Arcadia over thenext week if you are in Poole at all.

Sounds like fouled props moreso than a fouled hull, esp as you seem to have petrol engines(lower torque than diesels). I have exactly the same symptoms if I leave the props to crud up. In my case, fouled props cause a much greater perf degradation than a fouled hull ( I have 2 X Merc 454s).How long since to ran the boat prior to this?
Sounds like a job for DavidJ above:)
