Ahem well, last nite i was playing texas holdem and went all in with the boat against theirs as I had two queens and king with the king flop making two pairs. Unfortunately my opponent had a pair of kings already, making three of a kind so instead of me winning their boat, it's the opposite.

I spect loads of forumites have done this?

Bizzarely, near my office, a commercial building is used as a stake in card games. Currently one floor has a different owner to the rest of the building! No deeds or written contract, just witnesses. ie. those at the game.

Bummer.
Did you bet both hulls simultaneously? I think that makes the bet in phase, and therefore valid.
The boat you bet against was a mono I presume, which makes the pot lop sided and prolly void in some smart way I havent yet thought of.
Did it include all the contents too?

I hope this wasnt the last hand before you passed out!

I kept my card playing stricltly cash, which was probably wise advice from Grandad, who bet on any horse with no chance of success with consistent results.

Hum, the whole boat really. But I won easily at rummy though. There again it was probly the poor shuffling after the rummy but before the poker which acounts for the four sodding kings coming up like that...

Have you signed up as Crew to the *new* owner? You could prolly win it back on the way to Carib using new found shuffling expertise.

I have not bet on cards since I was a student playing poker holding a full-house. I was beaten by a Royal Flush.

I lost a fortune. It must have been nearly a pound...

John.

I cant claim to be a gambler, well not in games of chance in any case....Channel De Helle in someone else's mobo without a proper scale chart comes to mind....

I have however been in a casino in Antigua, Jolly Harbour I think it was, 5 of us, not being a gambler I watched 2 of the group play black jack, they finished one guy about 150 dollars up, the other guy about 150 dollars down, winner handed the 150 to the loser and everyone was evens. The three of us went to find the other two.....

They had found a bingo machine where the first ball cost 1 dollar, each ball had a prize and some points on, you had to keep going until you got to 100 points to claim the prize money. But the stake for each ball doubled.

1st ball, 7 points and 1000 dollars prize, second ball 2 dollars, 5 points, 800 dollars prize, you can see where this is going right? third ball 4 dollars, this is ok, were winning loads, fourth ball 8 dollars, rock on, 5 ball 16 dollars, were miles ahead, 6th ball 32 dollars, pff, easy pickings, 7th ball 64 dollars, yeah yeah, but were going to win mucho k dollars, 8th ball 128 dollars, hmm, 9th ball, 256 dollars, feeling a little out of depth, 10th ball 512 dollars........this is getting uncomfortable....11th ball 1024....sod it were off.....they wernt to happy. Funnily enough there was a sign by the machine, it said something like mathmatical 7 to 1 odds, effective odds 2800 to 1.
