I know a girl that works in shipping insurance, she told me the annual global average of containers 'lost overboard' to year 2004
Multiple guess kids a,b or c

A....5-12 thousand
B....13-20 k
C....20 thou + ?

I can't believe that any of those choices are correct!
The last figure that I heard was 1400?
Even if you take your lowest figure of 5K thats an awful lot of container ships worth per year!

The figure I heard, which was for a few years ago, was 10K..... which made me glad I'd gone for steel!

Paul.

It does look like a little bit of a PR puff for the heavy marine insurance industry and its clients. Whether a container sinks or floats will be largely dependent on its contents IMHO.
