...for boats. One Broker I am negotiating with is selling most of his UK owned Princess/Fairline/Sunseekers based in the Med to N. European Buyers...then shiping them there! (More Berths available..Yippee)

Is the exchange rate from the Krona to the Euro as good as Euro to Sterling or do you think they are doing the deal in Sterling?

So it seems the Market is now moving in N European style boats....just not Med style boats! Time to buy a Med Style Boat I think..... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

The cost of trucking a 40 footer to N Europe from the Med could be as little as £5k so the transport cost is not really a factor when you're talking hundreds of thousands for the boat itself. Yup, Sterling has been very weak against virtually all other currencies (maybe not the Zimbabwean Dollar though) so, no surprise for anyone with a non Sterling currency burning a hole in his pocket to be interested in Sterling denominated boats. As for buyers from Scandinavia, their currencies may have depreciated against the Euro but not by nearly as much as Sterling so Sterling boats still look cheap to them. Then, there have been stories about some very good deals being done in the Med as hard pressed sellers try to offload their boats in a market where not much is selling

I can confirm now that I am active in the Mkt that if you negotiate hard there are very good deals down here. Also easier if you have 2/3 similar boats to play off against each other.

I also think it shows that the UK market has been picked over and the best boats snapped up so that buyers are having to go further to get boats like the MED. Mind you there are lots available here, although quality and condition vary a lot from the Holiday boats never used to the dreams that have been abandoned.

I have seen a spate of boats coming on the market in the last week from the Balearics...not sure if it the Mat tax issue or that they are all just moving around Brokers trying to get a sale.
