I'm hoping to get a river-related job and need to find a place to stay as of April, prefereably in the London area. Am also willing to help with maintenance of said craft. Have lived onboard boats for many years now.
Any ideas, leads etc?

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply. Well it would be just for me, but I'm tall (187cm) and I would be working from home, so a land line and power are ideally required.
As for rent, I guess about 500 per month for a one-year contract would be reasonable, depending on location etc.
Any leads, just let me know!

you'll be very lucky to find anything near that price with the headroom, and phone line. I know of a widebeam barge with 6'2" foot headroom that could go for around £700, you could get wireless broadband, but no phone. Its in Docklands.

Hi, I lived on a houseboat on Ash Island just uptream of Hampton Court at the East Molesey lock. London is 1/2 on the train which runs every 20 mins so not bad. I owned the boat but there were other people renting. Most of the boats moored there were canal boats but there were some wider ones also. Everyone has phone lines. If you go there and inquire you might get some joy. I think you're dreaming though if you think you're going to get anything for 500 quid. You can also ask at Taggs Island. I think there are places for rent there as well but those are more housey than boaty.
