I am currently looking for moorings in the Kingston/ Shepperton area, any ideas welcome, 44foot motor cruiser.

You need to post this question on the Thames Forum.
Lots of very helpful and knowledgable boat users over there with a great deal of local knowledge.
Presume you are looking for leisure mooring for your boat, the chances of finding a permanent mooring for a livaboard are very close to zero.
The EA and local councils are now actively taking action against folks who overstay the 24 or 48 hour maximum period on public moorings.

I am moored at a yacht club near Kingston, but I have recently purchased a larger boat and they can't fit me in, I am a leisure boater not a live aboard. I wish the council/ EA would do a lot more about the illegal liveaboards, particularly outside John Lewis.

Not a live aboard, are the council doing anything about illegal boaters, I don't see it.

The sheer number of people now using the The Thames and other waterways as somewhere to keep a livaboard has been bone of contention on the Thames Forum for some time.
Driven there by the cost of accomodation in the south or purely because a narrowboat provides a chance for the baby bulge retired to do something different, any vacant bit of the riverbank is fair game to park a boat for as long as you can get away with it.
The riverbank around Teddington has proved very attractive and until recently finding out who is actually responsible for what has lead to local councils being very reluctant to accept resposibility.
The EA has taken boat owners to court over this, but it costs money to persue boat owners and with the recent cuts to DEFRA do not expect any increase in activity.
Some local parish councils have taken action to move on permanent moorers upstream.
Problem is,they then merely move into the next bit of the river :)
