We've recently become the proud owners of a twin keel Hummingbird 30, which is apparently a pretty rare yacht. We know that they have the same hull as an elizabethan 30, but with a square transom and modified Coach roof and of course ours with twin keels.

Does any one know how many were built ? It would also be interesting to know how many other twins keel versions are out there. We're very happy with her in every respect so far.

Certainly rare: I'd be fascinated to see a photo of the hull underbody, to see how they transformed the near-wineglass hullform of the fin-keeler into twin keel form. Has she got a vestigial fin left - similar to what Nicholson did with the 27 - see http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/boats/h87812/images/h87812-lift.jpg ?

When we were selling a fin keel H30 some years back I was unable to find how many were built, or when the last ones were built.

Hopefully I've now attached a couple of pictures taken before launching, hopefully you can make out the hull form. As you can see there's no vestigial keel but the basic hull form is kept. Seems like a very neat job to us and the results are very nice - she certainly sails sweetly and is very well balanced.

I owned a Liz 30 which was a great boat, had friends with a hummingbird too buttheirs was the regular fin keeled version, also nice. Enjoy!

Shamal,

Nice buy! I have a fin keel version. The main info I had was from Yachtsnet, like a previous contributor. We are very happy with our lady also. She is out of the water for this summer for various reasons including the time constraints that 3 children bring! I am very interested in one of your other posts regarding the sprayhood. This is a project that I am embarking on over the winter, and I have the same arrangement as you. Did you get sorted? I have a also attached a few photos on my cruising ground in the west of Ireland.P7210469.jpg
