Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice. I have a free summer and would like to spend some time on the water. I have had a quick look at the paysites like crewseekers but would like to find out peoples opinions before I shell out the sixty quid. How useful are these sites and how easy is it to find crewing opportunities out there. I have no real preference to where I want to go but it would be nice to put a bit of difference between myself and the UK.
I have no experience of ocean sailing but I sailed small dinghys when I was a teenager but that was a long time ago.
I am enthusiastic and willing to learn. I am free within a weeks notice until september 2010 when I start my PGCE in swansea.

Any advice or opportunities would be greatly received.

Thanks

Tom

I have picked up some crewing opportunities from responding to postings on this forum.

I don't have any experience of using commercial crewseeker sights but have the website of another free networking site.

If you would like more details please PM me.

You could try:
http://www.ashdownsailing.org.uk
http://www.channelsailingclub.org

I suspect one or both could get you out on the water this weekend, and both do longer trips over the summer.
