After many years I have given up my yacht share in Spain but am now considering getting another one!!
I am happy with older style boats but found that in Spain we often stay in the water all year round and only lift out for antifouling.
I know that it is a difficult question but is there a 'sort of' year when osmosis stopped being a significant issue.
Did anything happen in 'say' the 80s or 90s to construction techniques that more or les put an end to osmosis worries.
I gather that there was more understanding of the 'curing process' in later years?

I think pretty much any boat built with polyester resin is susceptible to osmosis and blistering.

The best protection is an epoxy barrier coat under the anti fouling.

many boats have been built with vinylester resin, and they do not have osmosis issues. These tend to be the more expensive brands - Arcona for example, but even then, not all their boats are vinylester.

The osmosis "problem" largely disappeared from the 90s onwards. If by "older style" boats you mean old British AWBs then you just have to accept a high possibility of osmosis and live with it.
