A friend of mine is looking for a tilt pin for his Volvo S80 drive. It is on his 1961 Hunt 18, but the drive dates from the early 70's when the boat was re-engined.

Anyone got any suggestions. Local VP agents (RK) very unhelpful. Boat piccie for those interested:

Jez,
Is it one of the two that hold the leg onto the transom plate?
They are about 60mm long 18mm dia with a cusp for the locking bolt and a 6mm thread on the outer end.
If it is these i just made four for Stormchild. If he is really stuck i could make another couple for a /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

it is the pin that allows you to trim the leg, there are vabout four holes in it for the trim setting. No power trim on this leg, and it is a bsic system but allows some variance. the outdrive pushes against it when underway and it has broken

its not a s80 its a 280
part is 814301 nuts are 814357
.
the are made from special material as stainless ones bend
if youdont have power steering you trim fin is missing

Hi Jez

When I read your post earlier in the week I thought your new boat had arrived!! anyway it was still good news, it doesn't stop the boating, my first born was staying on board at 3 weeks old and had done a channel crossing by her first birthday, this was in a Sunseeker 23 daycab, not a big boat!
Anyway to your question, if I was at work I would have spun you one up but now on leave - sorry. The dimensions I use are as follows, the rod should be 13mm diameter but don't worry if you can only get 1/2ins, this is 12.7mm and close enough for this job, the overall lenght is 227mm, this allows for 12.5mm of thread at either end, the thread I cut is 10mm, I don't use the original nylon nut but a 10mm nyloc. I use a piece of stainless but have used silver steel when out of stainless, any reasonable machinist should be able to spin one of these up for you in no time.
I hope this is of some help.

Steve

A Charming little boat. Definately a 280 leg in my opinion. Try Paul at coast rides. I know he has a few 280`s there /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
