HI All,
I am currently the owner of a Birchwood 25 river boat and am looking to upgrade to a sports cruiser next season, I have a 27ft mooring to put it in am am looking at the following boats,
Sealine 255, Fairline Sunfury 26, Targa 27 (although i believe they are 29ft long?) my main priority is an internal cabin (with a door not curtain) large entertaining deck.

Is there any other cruisers that fit the spec detailed that would be worth looking at ?

Any advise on the models listed above greatly appreciated as well as any alternatives, this is my first post so be gentle with me!!

Budget would be around 20k so second hand not new

How strict is the 27ft mooring? If not very, how much leeway are we talking?

Of the boats above, I would go with the Targa 27.

I would add to the list the Falcon 27, Bayliner 2655/2755/2855

edit: would need to check for doors on the Bayliners. Don't think the 2655 has one on the cabin, but the other two might.

If you're actually on the non tidal river, consider a fairline Mirage!?

29 foot might make it a non starter, but it'll tick all the other boxes, and £20k buys a cracker!

Thanks for the responses so far 27 foot pretty much max length I'm on the Medway non tidal part but would be looking to do the channel, I like the targa I know the hull is 27 feet where is the other 2 foot? For the 29

Another couple of suggestions would be Fairline Carrera ... Picton Spirit 28... Sealine 285...

Although the last 2 are just over they offer a huge amount of entertainment area and accommodation.

I agree with the Mirage suggestion as well, and all would fall within you budget for boat in reasonable condition.

I have owned a couple of Sealines over the last 20 years and before that a Fairline Weekender21.

The best advice I can offer as far as buying a Sports cruiser of the size and price range you are in is...

Service history and condition of hoods covers and upholstery..

If it has service history and looks good in those areas it has probably has been well looked after.

I have just had to re engine my 255 as it was 28years old, The transom shield corroded. and the exhaust horn flooded the engine room.

It was nt cheap, but as I am not selling it and it suits my needs it was worth the 10k, and the KAD42 has pepped it up a bit.

I did nt really consider it too much of a problem, but older boats can bring you eyewatering bills even if well researched.

Good luck .

I like the targa I know the hull is 27 feet where is the other 2 foot? For the 29

In the eighties, before moulded in bathing platforms became the norm and boat hulls finished at the transom, the model number usually reflected the hull length and the platform was bolted to the back of that.

As integral moulded in bathing platforms became the norm, initially model numbers still reflected the hull to the transom, then manufacturers quickly cottoned on to the fact that including the bathing platform made their boats sound bigger.

The Targa 27 was just pre this era and the boat from the bow to the transom was exactly 26ft. The length overall (LOA) which included the platform (and probably the bow rail sticking out the front although it doesn't stick very far past the hull) is 29ft 4in.

The Fairline Carrera mentioned would be a good shout but doesn't have the seperate mid cabin with a door, it's just a crawl in space.

Sealine 255 would probably work (although again, the 25 probably doesn't include the bathing platform so check the LOA) and has the door, but make sure you get a thorough survey. Also most had twin Volvo Penta AQ151 or AQ171 engines (as did a lot of other boats mentioned), might be worth checking parts availability, these are a long time out of production.

The Sunseeker Offshore 28 might also just fit the bill. Again a LOA verification may be required but the swim platform is removable if you're trying to squeeze the biggest boat in that you can.
