I'm taking (trailing) my boat to Morbihan for the Semaine week in early May. I'd like to leave it there for a few weeks and then go back for another week later that month or early June, before dragging it home. I need to find somewhere to leave it, either on or off the water. Does anyone have any knowledge of the area, or know anyone down there who could give me a steer? Thanks.

Once you are there, you shouldn't have any problems finding somewhere close to the water. There are loads of moorings within the Golfe du Morbihan and many small harbours around the gulf and a largish harbour in Vannes.

I have a holiday home in Rochefort en Terre some 30 miles to east of Arradon. Obviously depends on the size of your boat/trailer combination.

If you need any more detailed info let me know (williamfranciselder@gmail.com).

Thanks William. A mooring would be great, but I still need somewhere for the trailer. I would be prefer to leave the boat rigged on the trailer. The length is 7m.

Presumably you cannot leave the trailer or trailer/boat where you are staying. You could try Le Blan Marine, who are in Arradon. They look to have a lot of facilities.

Presumably based on the area in square metres that you occupy so should be about 30euros per month.

I understand that if you want to sail out of the Morbihan Gulf you need to be careful of the high tidal flows.

Enjoy your trip.

This site is brilliant for all the information you might want about slipways in the Morbihan and the river Villaine. It gives details of lengths widths, gradients and about parking free or not for car and trailer.

http://www.morbihan.fr/nautisme/cales.aspx

If you enter Arradon you get a choice

I seem to remember from our visit there that the best option was Cale de la plage.

They have free parking for up to 50 trailers!

The site is in french but I am sure you know by now what a Cale is and what a Remorques is!

I was also told that one of the best slipways to launch from was at LaTrinite and storage on the trailer was free..... But never explored that possibility.

Whilst I was at le Crousty we ere berthed under a crane that was used by boat owners to lift their boats out of the waterinto storage or onto trailers. It was adjacent to the main Capatainerie.

We are still thinking about going back there later this year looking at Late June early july. When is your second visit planned?

Steve
