LOOK what we've just bought!

Go for it Phill. Be one of your pics taken in the water off Hernia Bay? We used to terrorise the natives there for a few summers with our 240hp 16' Seadoo. Had great fun timing ourselves going round the pier end. Don't you get up to that though coz it's silly and dangerous. And now the boring bit - I presume you've got a VHF, some in-date flares, and tested life jackets for all on board? Course you have, you know it makes sense.

Now then. When's high water?

And considerably more fun ... :D

But it isn't. All you can do is whizz round in circles - and that soon get bloody boring for the driver, passengers & any one else.

Whereas a sailboat will take you places (albeit slowly), you can live on board and carry lots of gear for different activities. Driving a sailboat isn't just a matter of point & push the throttles (although it can be if that's what you want), you need to be aware of the wind & tide & to trim the sheets to get the best out of the sails.

So, sorry, it is actually considerably less fun that a sailboat. But, relax, I don't expect you to understand anyway. :D

When you post things like that, you are just demonstrating that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I for one understand what you mean, SR. A sailboat is undoubtedly the best thing man invented for CRUISING as such, and can be great fun if you appreciate what it takes to use it - albeit it might be annoying for someone.
But, there's a couple of buts, because cruising is not the only thing you can do on the water.
For watersports, you actually NEED an engne, and the bigger the better.
Besides, you're talking of "driving" a sailboat. I suppose you never had the opportunity to helm an air entrapment boat capable of speeds well in excess of 80 kts.
Now, THAT is driving. It might not be your thing, but I've yet to find anything more fun on the water.
And mind, I had some great fun on sailboats, including a Tornado, if you see what I mean. But sorry, the adrenaline of extreme speed is just in another league. It's one of those things that you must try to believe.
