Sorry if this is a daft question. I have just bought a Honda 5hp longshaft outboard as an auxillary for my boat but can I use it on my Inflatable as well (Excel 2.6m)

no reason why not. but when going aground with the tender dont forget the extra depth, and even more important, take more care that you have weight distributed forward in the tender, as the long shaft will cause a lot more downwards pressure on the stern. poor weight distribution and excessive acceleration might even be enough to allow wind to get under the bows and flip the boat.

Thanks for that Talbot. It will only be used for 'pottering' out to my boat and back (well laden) so thats just the reply I was looking for

Agree with the previous point. I used a long shaft on an inflatable, at one stage, and found as could be predicted, that the greater depth of the prop created a greater lift on the bow. Gentle pottering should be no problem but take care.
