I am considering going to look at a boat which has apparently spent quite a few years stored ashore on a trailer (not sure why yet). I am just wondering what kind of stresses would be placed on a hull when it's stored in this manner for a prolonged period since it's designed to float on water and have the load evenly distributed. Should I be concerned about this?

"No" is the short answer, but it must have been properly shored up and checked regularly. I saw one boat where the ground under the keel had sunk slightly and there were noticable depressions in the hull at the support pads. That said, once the supports were reset, there was no permanent damage. If there are distortions in the hull, draw these to the attention of the surveyor and ask for a diagnosis of whether they are serious.
