I have a week off starting next weekend for sailing.

Does anyone know of an online weather site with forecasts for up to 2 weeks.I have looked at the met office 4 week one .I wondered if there are any better sources for 2 weeks?

I appreciate that anything more than 48 hours away is not reliable but it would help to get some idea.

You could try http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/avnpanel1.html that shows 9 days ahead. You have to interpret it yourself, but you can see isobaric and temperature changes. It is quite accurate, but tails off a bit after one week.

It is after all, accurate guestimation looking so far ahead.

Use the above, choose "Sailing" and enter your nearest city. It gives up to 15 days.

I provide links to the best of the internet forecast websites and have a page formatted for PDAs too.

Wetterzentrale is on there with wind foecasts up to 180hrs ahead (Weather Charts) and you can also use GRIB files with Raytech Navigator or similar.

For up to 14 days, have a look at Metcheck under the general forecasts and Accuweather.

Thanks for the advice. A few days with gusts up to 50 mph dont look encouraging .Ill just keep monitoring it as the weekend gets closer.

I knew it was too good to be true ,time off work SWMBO happy to get me out from under her feet, a fellow yachtsman and forumite ready to come with me everything coming together except the weather.Early days yet,the forecast may change by then(I hope). /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Where is your home port and where are you hoping to get to and when? I'd like to have a look to compare how the accuracy varies as the day approaches and help you out too

Our home port is Cardiff .The general idea was to head west towards Milford Haven with a hope of getting across to SE Ireland if the weather was remaining settled.

If the forecast remains as it is we will probably stay in the upper bristol Channel and just have a couple of days in Watchet ,Porlock or anywhere within a short sail of home.

I haven't been to Milford Haven in a while but it sure is lovely there. Forecast looks OK so far for the weekend beginning 22nd April. Light westerly winds...
