'Lone Voyager' by Maureen Jenkins published by Judy Piatkus (Publishers) Ltd in 2000 is a book I found in my county library reserve stocks, so probably not all that popular. But then Buckinghamshire is not known as the centre of British sailing. I enjoyed it as it was very well written and had lots of drama. But more importantly my wife read it and declared at the end that she finally understood why I go single handed ocean sailing. My wife's favourite statement is: 'I love sailing, I just don't like sailing with him!' (points at me).

There was a glitch in the Amazon software last week and it resulted in a whole load of stuff being priced at 1p. Apparently Amazon are canceling the orders if they haven't already been posted (so my wife tells me) so maybe not the result he thought.....

How did you get it for 1p. It is £17 now

Try an online county library search. If that doesn't work extend your search to the SELMS catalogue, which covers all county libraries in England if not Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. I am fortunate that I can reserve any item in the county library free, but a SELMs reservation costs me about £3. all items are delivered to whatever local library I nominate.

My local library also gets rid of its well used books by selling them at £1 per bag. Even living well inland it is surprising how often I can find quality sailing books. In fact when I am doing an extended trip it is how I produce enough books to last the voyage. Unfortunately not all of them are sailing books, but I read many books I would not normally touch as they are not what at first glance would be the type I enjoy. It is amazing when you have nothing else to do how even a mediocre 'girly' romance can hold the attention.

According to Amazon the book has been dispatched to me. I thought it was not uncommon for books to go for a penny. Not heard of the glitch until now.
