A friend of mine is visiting London (from Norway) for a few days shortly and he asked me which chandlerys he should visit in London. I have not lived in London for 10 years or so. I could not think of any still left in centre London. Does anyone know of any and their addresses??? Thanks for any help

i would have sail Thomas Foulkes in North East London ( Leytonstone ) but the ceased trading some 25 yrs ago /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif a great shame as they were a trad chandler /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Remember their catalogues? With the "convict" photos of their staff? And the thunderous noise of the trains going over their shop?

As is mentioned in the thread that VicS linked to, there is Ocean Leisure, near Charing Cross. It depends what sort of stuff he wants. They are good on clothes, books and some electronics, but don't stock general hardware etc. It's worth a visit at lunchtime, though, to watch sober elderly civil servants in grey suits getting kitted out to go diving or sailing at the weekend!

There are forumites who are chandlers. I think Chrissie at Endeavour Quay is one. Sure they would help you out.
Any one know any more

Ahem, as a frequent visitor to said chandler I take exception to the 'elderly civil servant' description /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As far I'm aware it is the only one.
